Indian Wells Area Information
The town of Indian Wells is located in Kern County, California. This should not be confused with the abandoned town with the same name located in neighboring Imperial County. Indian Wells is located in the Coachella Valley. Despite being called a city, the population of Indian Wells of 5,404. It is located in between the cities of Palm Desert and La Quinta.
One of the main attractions of Indian Wells is the city’s golf courses: the Eldorado Country Club and the Indian Wells Country club. Desi Arnaz (famously known as Ricky Ricardo in the TV show “I Love Lucy”) opened up the Indian Wells Hotel in 1957. The hotel was later renamed the Indian Wells Resort Hotel. The nearby Indian Wells Country Club has played host to some of America’s most recognizable people. Former US President Dwight D. Eisenhower owned a home in nearby Eldorado and was a regular fixture at the country club. Indian Wells Country Club also served as one of the sites for the Bob Hope Desert Classic.
Thanks to the development of golf courses, resort hotels, and luxury residences, Indian Wells has grown to be a small city that attracts visitors from all corners of the globe each year. While it is considered paradise for the golf fanatic, Indian Wells has various activities for everyone who loves to take a day or night out on the town.
